The macOS build is a notarized disk image (DMG). Setup takes a minute, and macOS may ask you to confirm that the app is safe to open.
Requirements
- macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later.
- Universal build for Intel and Apple silicon.
- About 220 MB of free disk space.
Step 1 — Download and open the DMG
- On the Download page, select macOS and save
Dingdok-5.3.0.dmg. - Double-click the DMG to mount it. A window opens showing Dingdok and the Applications folder.
Step 2 — Install
- Drag the Dingdok icon onto the Applications shortcut.
- Eject the disk image from the Finder sidebar.
- Open Dingdok from Launchpad or Applications.
Step 3 — Confirm the app is trusted
The build is notarized and stapled, so Gatekeeper normally opens it without a warning. If macOS still blocks it:
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Find the message about Dingdok and click Open Anyway.
- Confirm with Touch ID or your password.
Avoid disabling Gatekeeper globally; only allow this specific, hashed build.
Step 4 — Grant folder access
The first time you choose a download folder, macOS shows a permission prompt. Grant access so Dingdok can write files. You can review or revoke this later under Privacy & Security → Files and Folders.
Step 5 — First run
Choose a destination folder, then either paste a link or import a playlist. Sign in with your Dingdok account to start. Paid editions are activated under Settings → License.
Troubleshooting
- "App is damaged" message: the download was incomplete. Re-download and compare the SHA-256 hash.
- Dingdok does not appear in the menu bar: check that it is in Applications and not still inside the DMG window.
- Downloads fail to write: re-grant folder access in System Settings.
Uninstall
Quit Dingdok, drag it from Applications to the Trash, then remove the support folder at ~/Library/Application Support/Dingdok if you also want to clear the queue database.
